Back in person! October 2021
We all got vaccinated and returned for some in person work at Lyle Kessler's Theatre Workshop. So weird not wearing sweatpants and shooing my cat away under the table as I pour a tediously crafted character's heart out over zoom - but I like it! It's been a pandemic's length for most but it's been 8 years for me and I can't believe how much I missed this!
Also, a new play is in the works (!!!) and I feel like the luckiest fly on the wall watching it develop in real time on Mondays nights. Goooo team! www.lylekessler.com/
Autumn 2021 ...Possibilities abound.
For one whole year, I have been ~slowly but surely~ dipping my toes into this old ocean of storytelling. Now, wading about waist deep, I've got another screen project in the works and am looking for an animator to partner with, preferably a female one. Any leads please email email@example.com.
Coming in August 2021...
Live theatre is about to reopen and, apparently, I get to be part of that!!! www.bridgeproductiongroup.org/a-golden-city-by-lyle-kessler.html
Edit 9/2021: It was a success and now The Bridge Production Group is all over my radar as it ought to be on yours, too. www.bridgeproductiongroup.org/
Enter Spring, 2021 - Actor's Studio PDU
I was given the chance to participate in a reading for The Studio's Playwright and Directing Unit (zoom style, of course) of an incredible play-in-the-making by Gina Ferranti and Charles Messina. Eva Minemar directed with passion and precision and I felt really lucky to be among such a talented ensemble of artists.
Winter 2021 - Austin Chick's Craft Lab
Even from the confines of my bedroom and this here little laptop screen, stepping back into my actor's shoes has been such an awesome ride. So much so, I figure why stop there?! Thanks to a referral by a fellow actor and sister soulmate, Lacy Marie Meyer, I was introduced to Austin Chick and his Craft Lab. Under his careful direction, I'm now in a writers' group, learning the ins and outs of constructing a well-orchestrated screenplay and testing out the configurations of my own ideas. Stay tuned!
December 2020 - Lyle Kessler and LAByrinth Theatre Company!
2020 was officially the year of WHAT?! But I am relieved report that mine ended in both health and joy, with an extra cherry on top. I got to read a part in Lyle Kessler's newest work entitled, "Golden City" under the direction of the bright and talented Kat Yen for LAByrinth Theatre Company’s month-long inter-company intensive workshop. This meant that I was going to get to perform (ok, read with my whole heart) a part that I *loved*, written by one of my favorite playwrights and mentors, and all before an incredible group of artists, the likes of whom I've admired since I first came to NYC so very many years ago.
To be invited into such a sacred space, all while my husband and children played quietly (um.. well, mostly quietly) in the room right next to me was nothing short of living the dream.

October/November 2020 - readings and #SonnetCoronaProject
Ah! The fall gave me the chance to participate in readings for The Actor's Studio PDU, Naked Angels and good friends. One of my favorite endeavors was working with Jane Elias on Sonnet 193 of her amazing series entitled #SonnetCoronaProject. She has been writing a new sonnet every single day since COVID19 made landfall in NYC and quarantines ensued.
Her words on the project: "The sonnets are always 14 lines, usually end with a rhyming couplet, but the meter and overall rhyme scheme are a bit more variable. Each morning I post the video and accompanying text of that day's sonnet on my Twitter @eliastories. The poems form a sequence called a corona: the last line of each sonnet becomes the first line of the next, and so on until the last poem, whose last line will repeat the first line of the first sonnet, thereby closing the corona. The idea is to build an ever-growing chain of many artists' voices, and to keep it going until there is a coronavirus vaccine. The corona will close when a vaccine becomes available to the general public (US)."
I cannot believe her talent and dedication to this project - so grateful to have been a part. You can see my assigned sonnet 193 in the Clips tab here on the site.
September 2020 - New Headshots!
Emily Lambert Photography is the best! Wow! I literally *never* enjoyed getting headshots done in my entire life... until I met Emily and make-up artist extraordinaire, Brad Laskey. They made me feel so comfortable and I am quite happy with the outcome... Check out some favorites in the Gallery tab of this site.
August 2020 - Lyle Kessler's Master Class!
I'm baaaaackkkk! In August, I had the great pleasure of beginning my journey back to my love of storytelling, as an actor. At home, for the past several years, I've been telling stories to babies - my babies - instead of the usual audiences. It's been the greatest joy of my life... but when everyone was made to be stuck at home and my youngest was finally sleeping through the night, it seemed like the right time to step quietly back into the world that once consumed my every waking moment. Lyle and the rest of the class were incredibly inviting and warm and I quickly found my place again. I continue to join in every Tuesday night as both audience and actor, working on scenes, forging many new friendships and loving every second of it. www.lylekessler.com
